I wouldn’t worry about it too much, since, as you said, it sounds like they were just more comfortable living with people of the same nationality/race. There’s nothing really surprising about that. Studies show that people do tend to feel more comfortable around people that look like them.

Don’t let these experiences ruin your next potential friendship. You never know, the third time’s the charm.
