*SPOILERS FOR ICO, VIEWTIFUL JOE, AND CAVE STORY*
ICO
I zipped through this so quick and since it was a replay I’m not gonna get too detailed. I got the mace, which was pretty dang powerful. It’d take out the strongest shadow monsters in three hits. Anyway, I still had fun with the game even though I didn’t have much trouble with any of the puzzles this time through. Got caught up a bit in that area where you’re alone and trying to climb up all those wheels and stuff in the watery area. The fight with the Queen was easy, and seeing the ending again was nice since I had forgotten exactly what happened. Didn’t remember Yorda being all shadowy like that. Also, I’m trying to figure out exactly how she could have made it safely to the beach along with Ico, back to normal too. Everything seemed really bright and hazy looking (more than normal) on the beach, making me wonder if that little part wasn’t just a dream possibly. I dunno. Good game, but what would be totally awesome is if with another game they combined the idea of this game and SotC. That would be perfect.
Viewtiful Joe
Still having trouble, though I haven’t tried a whole lot since the last time. Got past the first boss and then got my butt kicked by the rhino dude with the axe (forgot his name). Not sure if they’re really harder or I just am out of practice at knowing their patterns and what to do exactly.
Cave Story
Finally downloaded this after having meant to for so long. Started this up last night after fighting with my stupid controller forever trying to get it to work. The physics feel kinda like Metroid; a bit floaty, and the weapons seem to work similiarly. Also, the music that plays when you pick up a life capsul is clearly made to sound like the Metroid music that plays when you get an upgrade.
So apparently I’m some girl who’s lost her memory and pretty much right off I’m having to look for some outsider named Sue (or did I forget her name?). Did a few things and ended up getting trapped in a building with the little rabit-like girl and having to fight a boss, Balrog (I almost typed Morgoth <_<). He was easy to avoid and I took him down quickly. Went on to the graveyard, got the key and then went to the place with the teleporter. After going through that area with the eggs I found Sue with some giant rabbit monster named Igor. He was easy too, I just would shoot, jump over him, and then shoot his energy breath attack if I had to. Sue said I could come with her (though she’s nowhere to be seen when I left the dragon egg building). I’ve got it saved there.
I had only meant to play a couple of minutes since it was pretty late when I started, but I ended up playing for a good bit of time. Seems like it’ll be a good game.
Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk
Alright, so I decided to go and try to finish this up since I knew it would be easy. On the back of the box it says 36 stages, but what it really means is that it’s 16 stages, and then those same 16 are made into challenges, which consist of stuff like time limits, limited ammo, etc... Most of this game SUCKED! You’ve got unlimted ammo, so you can just blast away at the enemy with as many missiles as you want, with only small pauses to reload. It also takes a freakin crap load of fire power to damage your ship, and even then you slowly regain health. I don’t think I ever died once in this game. The controls can be jerky sometimes and if you happened to steer into a mountain you don’t blow up or anything, you just grind into it for a bit, barely taking any damage.
The enemies took several missiles to take down, so it was basically just trying to catch the little stinkers and keep them in view long enough to unload on them. They never bothered to attack much, and when they did it was easily avoided by a barrel roll. The last two stages in the game were a bit better, with it having you fly into tight spaes to chase and be chased by enemy fighters. Still, that tiny bit was nothing to keep this game from sucking. Didn’t really have any fun with it, basically just beat it to beat it.
Oh yeah, and not to mention the extremely generic rebels vs. empire story where you’re the awesome rookie who’s 100x better than everyone else.
