1.8ct, set in platinum. Don’t ask me about the color, clarity stuff - it rates high on all factors though. Wife picked it out.
And oh yeah, I got this Strat from the Custom Shop!!!!! (cost a fraction of what that ring cost) Case is one of those ’durafoam’ deals ... I’m keeping the Custom Shop case packed up. This guitar is superb.
Well, now I’m broke. Won’t see much in this thread from me for a long time. Thanks Ninty for providing a place where I can flaunt this shit. ^_^
These are all the versions I bought. I ordered them online and they took my money. Just waiting for them to come into Wal*Mart so I can go pick them up. I saved $6 buying them online than in store.
if it makes ya feel any better, my next one’s at least a year away, and it’ll be a humble Made in Mexico "Classic 50’s" Tele, and it will have a maple board. I had to trade the white Tele you saw before to get this custom shop axe, but that’s ok because that Tele had some issues I wasn’t too happy about (1st on the list - large neck pocket gap. Eeek!) But one thing I learned from owning a high-dollar Tele is that you don’t need a high-dollar Tele. As long as you’ve got an alder or ash body, you’re good to go. I’m gonna get that "Classic 50’s" next year and upgrade the pickups. That’s all it needs.
Rosewood is a safer fretboard material to use though, because it’s not finished like a maple fretboard is. Re-fretting a maple board is difficult because the old lacquer next to the frets tends to crack and flake away while the old frets are being removed. I believe it’s not a big deal with polyurethane finishes, but the nitrocullulose finishes on vintage and custom shop guitars does this. With rosewood, no such worries.
<_< So I bought myself a cheap mandolin, a ukulele, a new harmonica (Hohner Marine Band >_>), a steel bar for my resonator, a brass slide, some mandolin and uke books, a bunch of strings and picks, and books for school.
