Activision today officially unveiled the next game in the Guitar Hero franchise - Guitar Hero World Tour. Due out for all major consoles, including PS2 and Wii, World Tour will take the route paved by Rock Band, including support for four-person bands, including a new drum set and a microphone. One major new option is the Music Studio, which lets you create your own music and upload it for others to play. New online modes include an online Band Career, and an eight-person Battle of the Bands mode; it’s unknown if all these modes will make it to the Wii build, but the press release indicates "significantly more localized downloadable music than ever before on all of the next-generation consoles." Expect Guitar Hero World Tour to hit the Wii this fall.
One of my ponderings is actually how the game will look; GH3 was pretty ugly on PS2 and Wii, but Rock Band looks fantastic on PS2, BUT the new screenshots of World Tour could stand to look better in themselves... but I’m nitpicking. Downloadable content on Wii is the winner.
