Capcom revealed today that it would be publishing Spyborgs on the Wii in 2009. Spyborgs is the first game made by Bionic Games, which includes many former members of Insomniac, which worked on games such as Resistance: Fall of Man and Ratchet and Clank, and it puts you in the shoes of a team of mechanically enhanced superheroes who need to save the world. The game’s major gameplay emphasis is on co-op play, either in two-player mode where you’ll be working together to get through levels, or in single-player mode where you’ll be changing your team member regularly to take advantage of their different abilities. This game is also designed to feel like a Saturday morning cartoon; not only are the characters and the storyline wacky in a cartoony way, but there will even be commercial breaks that you can play through. Spyborgs does not have a set release date beyond 2009.
This looks like it could be a fun/silly romp. I wonder if it’s targeted solely at the younger crowd, or possibly also at the older crowd looking for some nostalgia.
