AudiOdyssey, a game developed by the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab, is a game that hopes to be as entertaining to the visually impaired community as it is to a normal gamer, making heavy use of audio cues. The player moves the Wii Remote (or taps their keyboard) in time to the beat in order to get the crowd jumping, but get them too riled up and they’ll bump into your turntables and mess you up. AudiOdyssey is a game designed mainly for research purposes, hoping to shed some light on how games created for the visually impaired community could be well constructed. You can check out the game here.
Well this certainly is an interesting project. I’d always wondered how a game could be developed for a blind community.
