WiiWare: Groovin’ Blocks, 800 Wii Points

This puzzle game applies rhythm-game mechanics to gameplay mechanics in the vein of Puyo Pop. As you drop down blocks and try to match colors, do so to the beat of the music in order to get more points. There are also fifteen stages of powerups across 27 levels, which can be played on one of three difficulty settings. You can also play with a friend cooperatively or competitively.

TurboGrafx-16: Final Soldier, 700 Wii Points

This title is one of the Star Soldier games that’s only just coming to America. Gameplay is generally the same; you have a main mode, and then time attack modes as well. As you play through, you’ll gather weapons, and then can equip them in the Options screen, to add a bit of strategy to your game. According to the press release, Final Soldier is "the most perfect blend and balance in the whole series".

TurboGrafx-16 CD-ROM: Cho Aniki, 900 Wii Points

This rather odd shooter also comes to us from the Land of the Rising Sun. You most go up against the emperor of Planet Builder, whose muscular body could make him the "supreme virtue of the universe". As either Idaten or Benten, you’ll have to shoot your way through the well-toned forces of the emperor, collecting protein shakes from your fallen enemies to power up.

I’ve heard a lot about this Cho Aniki, but never played it. In any case, Groovin’ Blocks sounds like it takes plenty of inspiration from Lumines. Wonder how it plays.
