Wiikly Update: 10/6/08
Posted by The Sound Defense, 46 days ago Oct 6, 2008 14:43

In addition to the usual group of games added today, there are two new bits of downloadable content for the recently-released Mega Man 9. The first places you in an endless level, in a challenge to see how high you can get your score before you expire; this score is then added to a worldwide leaderboard. The second lets you play as Proto Man, with different moves and other changes.

Images will be posted when Nintendo updates its press site.

WiiWare: Midnight Bowling, 800 Wii Points

Part of the same series as Midnight Pool, Midnight Bowling has you using your Wii Remote to throw your bowling ball "precisely and easily" using a new physics engine. The game features a career mode, wherein you play in multiple trendy venues against specific opponents, as well as a party mode where up to three players can play.

WiiWare: MadStone, 800 Wii Points

This puzzle game challenges you to quell the forces of nature by getting your MadStones safely to the bottom of the screen. You do so by striking at the obstacles in the way to break them, which become more nmerous; you can try to break them all individually, or you can set up chains that will destroy many of them at once.

Nintendo 64: Mario Golf, 1,000 Wii Points

The original Nintendo 64 title hits the Virtual Console. Play as one of many Mario characters in one of ten different play modes, on one of six 18-hole courses. Up to four players can play in various multiplayer modes, or you can challenge yourself in a single-player mode.

Genesis: Shining Force II, 800 Wii Points

As Bowie, you must protect the land of Granseal from the evil forces of Zeon in this tactical RPG. Unlike the also-available original game, Shining Force II is more open-ended, ditching the chapter system and letting you return to older areas if you please; it also presents a larger cast of playable characters. The battle system retains the same tactical grid-style gameplay as the original.

Mario Golf’s supposed to be a pretty good N64 game; I only ever played Toadstool Tour. Otherwise, I’m glad to see the Virtual Console getting some RPGs.
