3/10/08: Mr. Game & Watch
Mr. Game & Watch returns from Melee; you can unlock him by playing 250 Brawls, clearing one difficulty of Target Test with 30 characters, or by getting far enough in the Subspace Emissary. He hasn’t changed much from the previous game; the update illustrated the finer points of his special moves Judge (wherein you hit the enemy with a hammer of random strength, from nearly-no-effect to Home Run Bat) and Oil Panic (where you collect projectiles to attack with later). His Final Smash is called Octopus, wherein he turns into a giant octopus. Pressing buttons on your controller will extend his tentacles, attacking enemies with great strength.
3/11/08: Flat Zone 2
Mr. Game & Watch’s stage has been update for Brawl; you unlock it as you unlock the character. Rather than have just one game on display, like in Melee, this stage will change from game to game as you keep playing. The Game & Watch games available to play on here are Fire, Oil Panic, Lion and Chef; each one has his specific quirks and hazards.
3/12/08: Hidden Masterpieces
Besides the Masterpieces already seen in a previous update, there are several others that can be unlocked and tried out.
Donkey Kong (NES) - Keep the game powered on for a total of 10 hours. This will start you off at the third level, the same point as the hidden stage 75m.
Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES) - Win 5 Brawls as Peach. This starts you off at World 1-1, and you play as Peach; this is the game from which most of her Brawl moves originate, after all.
Super Mario World (SNES) - Play on the Yoshi’s Island Melee stage three times. You’ll begin at Yoshi’s Island 2.
F-Zero (SNES) - Have Captain Falcon join you in the Subspace Emissary. You’ll play on Mute City in this demo.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - Play as Toon Link 10 times in Brawls. This Masterpiece has two save files: one starts you off as Young Link, right before entering the Deku Tree, and the other starts you off as Adult Link, close to the beginning of that adventure as well.
3/13/08: Secret Melee Stages
Like Masterpieces, there are some Melee stages waiting to be unlocked.
Jungle Japes - Play 10 Brawls on various Melee stages.
Green Greens - Play as Kirby in 20 Brawls.
Pokémon Stadium - Play on Pokémon Stadium 2 10 times.
Big Blue - Play as Captain Falcon in 10 Brawls.
You can also customize the Melee stage music to your preference, with other hidden music tracks.
3/14/08: Latecomer Assist Trophies
Custom Robo - This is the Ray Mk III from Custom Robo Arena, unlocked by playing 100 matches. He fires bullets from his left hand, and bombs from the right.
Isaac - Hailing from the Golden Sun series, Isaac pushes away everything in his path with a giant hand. He is unlocked by playing 200 matches.
Infantry and Tanks - The Advance Wars series gets its appearance here; unlock this trophy by playing 300 matches. This 2D group fires tiny but powerful projectiles.
Barbara - Barbara appears in Master of Illusion and the Japan-only game Daigassou! Band Brothers, and she uses sonic waves from here electric guitar to attack opponents. When you unlock 25 different hidden songs, you’ll get this Assist Trophy.
Shadow the Hedgehog - Sonic’s rival joins the fight when you unlock Sonic; his Chaos Control slows time for everyone except the character who summoned him.
Gray Fox - This comrade of Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid was mentioned a few months back, but it is now revealed that you unlock him by unlocking Snake.sm
Lot of pointing out of hidden stuff this week. This site is definitely going into Guide Mode, I suppose.
