NES: King’s Knight, 500 Wii Points
Square Soft, Inc.’s first American release turns out to be a vertical-scrolling shooter, not an RPG. Princess Claire has been kidnapped by an evil dragon; playing as a knight, a wizard, a monster, and a thief, you’ll have to traverse the lands and get her back through five danger-filled stages. As you use your weaponry to destroy your enemies and the environment around you, you’ll earn powerups and health boosts, but beware the down arrows that decrease your health.
Genesis: Powerball, 800 Wii Points
This new sport, a mix of rugby and football (and possibly others), has you and your teammates vying to either get the ball into your opponent’s end zone, or kick it into their net. Eight different teams are trying for the championship in league play, and there are also options for exhibition matches or two-player games.
I took King’s Knight for a whirl, and while it’s somewhat entertaining and a different take on shooters, I found it pretty difficult, so caveat emptor. Not much information is available on Powerball.
